October 23/09 11:12 am - Cross-Canada Visual Statement for Ride to Conquer Cancer

Posted by Editoress on 10/23/09

Groups of identically clad riders took to the streets in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver to support the Ride to Conquer Cancer.

At 1:05 pm on Thursday, a group of 100 identically-attired cyclists descended onto the northwest corner of Queen and Bay streets in Toronto and raised their bicycles over their heads in unison for sixty seconds.  The group was attempting to visually convey the "Strength in Numbers" motto of The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting The Princess Margaret.  Similar stunts took place in Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal at the same local time.  The photo ops are part of a broader public launch for the 2010 Ride to Conquer Cancer.  Since it began in 2008, The Ride to Conquer Cancer program has raised more than $40 million across the country in total for cancer research.

In Montreal, approximately 50 cyclists, identically clad in yellow shirts, descended on the corner of Réne-Lévesque and University and, in unison, raised their bicycles over their heads for approximately 60 seconds as a crowd of onlookers watched in amazement.
