January 12/10 10:19 am - National Track Training Camp Invitation

Posted by Editoress on 01/12/10

At the Cali World Cup in December, the Women’s Team Pursuit squad set the fastest time and new Canadian record in qualifying and then bested their time in the final to bring home the gold medal. The men also set a new Canadian record in the team pursuit, showing where Canada stands against the best in the world. There have been impressive improvements and we are on the right track towards more successes.

We believe it is a realistic goal to qualify for one of the 8 spots that will be available at the 2012 Olympic Games in each of the men’s and women’s team pursuits. We need to work harder and improve times in a training environment, as that is were the greatest gains can be achieved, especially over the next 10 months, in order to carry on the focus heading toward the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games.

There will be a National Team Training camp in Los Angeles on February 6-11. Men and women who are interested in becoming a part of, or continuing to be involved in, the national team pursuit program, believe they have the future potential to compete for Canada internationally, and would like to attend the camp in February are asked to contact Petrina Tulissi at track@canadian-cycling.com by January 14th. Invitations to the camp will be sent out on January 15th.

Athletes will be responsible for the cost of their hotel room, food, as well as the cost of and booking their own tickets to LA on February 6th with airport pick-up times at 13:00 pm and 18:00 pm, and airport drop off on February 11th at 14:30 pm and 16:00 pm.

Should you have any questions please contact Petrina at track@canadian-cycling.com.
