News from Burnaby Velodrome Club, Fall winter programs and race announcements



Winter racing kicks off at the BVC’s Friday Nights under the Dome

This Friday night, October 1st many of the best track racers in British Columbia and the NW United States will be at the Burnaby Velodrome in the Vancouver suburb. Racers in all categories will do battle in many endurance events as well as sprint action. October 1st is the opening night and start of the 20 race series. Racing is open to all ages and abilities.

Racing begins at 6:30pm with Novice and D class racers, 7 pm is start for C, B and A categories
Admission for spectators is always “FREE”.

Bare Bone Race weekend combined with women and youth clinics

November 13 and 14th the Burnaby Velodrome Club will host the Bare Bone Track event. The event will have categories available to everyone. Registration will be on-site only and cost is $20/day for all events. There will be a sprint tournament on Saturday and keirins on Sunday along with endurance qualifying heats, semi-finals and finals for various mass start events.

On the holiday November 11th there will be a clinic for women on racing preparation and tactics. This clinic will be hands on with practical sessions and video analysis with critique afterwards. On the same day there will be a youth clinic run in conjunction with Cycling BC’s youth programs at the velodrome. The youth clinic will continue with part two on Friday November 12th. More details on both these clinics will be announced shortly on www.burnabyvelodrome.ca site.

Burnaby New Years Challenge UCI track race

The UCI sanctioned Burnaby New Years Challenge will be held Dec 27-30. This will feature some of the top track racers in the world including riders from the Canada, the US, New Zealand, and Europe. Confirmed for the event already and Canadian Olympians Zach Bell and Svein Tuft . The event will be comprised of a three day Madison format with a one day modified Olympic omnium. As well as some of the top men and women around the world competing there will be categories for Jr men and a host of supporting category races. For more information visit www.burnabysixday.com
