The Bicycle Trade Association of Canada (BTAC) announced today the after 11 successful years in her position as Executive Director of BTAC, Ms. Janet O'Connell will be stepping down from her role with the Association.  Leaving to pursue personal interests, Janet will remain at the helm of BTAC until October 1, 2012.

Since BTAC moved to independence from the Canadian Sporting Goods Association (CSGA) in 2000, Janet has held the role of Executive Director.  During her tenure, BTAC has grown from a start-up organization to the national voice for Canada's cycling trade.  BTAC's members and partners have grown to include independent bicycle dealers, manufacturers, distributors, and, advocacy groups in Canada. Today BTAC is a leader in Canada supplying Cycling Industry Research, Grant programs and Advocacy Partnerships, while continuing to successfully produce ExpoCycle, Canada's national bicycle industry trade show.  Under her guidance, ExpoCycle has seen healthly growth; becoming the largest bicycle trade show in Canada and a vital part of the cycling trade business.

On behalf of the Board, BTAC President Kevin Senior stated that "We are very proud of what Janet has accomplished in her time as Executive Director, and we want to thank her for all her efforts, and wish her continued success in her future endeavors. The Board of Directors and Janet will be working on a transition plan".

"It has been a great 11 years for me at BTAC.  Starting from the ground up, I have had the opportunity to build a successful organization and gain some great friends along the way.  I would like to thank the Board for their support in this transition of leadership and I look forward to seeing everyone at ExpoCycle this year," commented O'Connell.

ExpoCycle will take place September 8-10 in Toronto at the Direct Energy Centre.
