December 3/12 10:09 am - Cycling BC AGM Sees New Faces on Board

Posted by Editoress on 12/3/12

The BC cycling community has been roiled over the past month by internal conflict, most notably the suspension and subsequent lawsuit filed by ex-provincial coach Richard Wooles, alleged deficits and personnel conflicts within the office.  The AGM had to be rescheduled from its original date to book a space large enough to handle a record turnout.

A group naming itself The Future of Cycling in British Columbia (FOCIBC) saw its slate of candidates elected:

Tony Martin - VP Financial Oversight
Matt Klymson - VP Cyclo-cross
Tim Abercrombie - VP Road & Track
Jeff Clarke - VP BMX

These new Board members joining existing Board members whose terms continue - Wayne Pomario (President), Alex Pope (VP Randonneur) and Galen Kehler (VP Mountain Bike).  Peter Lawless (VP Paracycling) resigned earlier in the week, leaving one position vacant.  The CEO of CBC, Keith Ryan, was absent from the AGM, reported to be on leave until the New year.

The Financial Statements for the year ending December 31st, 2011, showed Cycling BC (CBC) with revenue of nearly $1.5 million, a $239,000 increase over the previous year.  There were questions regarding a rumoured deficit in the current year, however, they were not addressed since the year end has not happened yet.

Questions regarding recent events, such as the lawsuit filed by Richard Wooles over wrongful dismissal were not addressed.
