The primary beneficiaries of the ride will be the Milton Velodrome Capital Campaign and Share the Road cycling advocacy organization.

"Our CanFondo will be the ultimate group ride where I will be proud to ride alongside cycling enthusiasts of all abilities, showcasing some amazing scenic country roads here in Southern Ontario while fueling the passion for the bike,” said Steve Bauer. “The course will be safe, fully supported and benefit Canadian cycling in general, and specifically the Milton Velodrome as well as the vitally important Share the Road initiative."

The Chair of the Velodrome fund raising committee Howard Chang said: "Steve Bauer has been behind the Pan Am 2015 Velodrome project from day one. He has been invaluable as an expert consultant and a committed supporter of cycling. As Chair of the velodrome fund raising committee, I am thrilled that Steve Bauer’s CanFondo will both support the capital campaign and be a first class event that will showcase our beautiful sport to all levels of riders."

Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz said, “On behalf of Milton Council, I would like to thank Steve Bauer for hosting the inaugural Steve Bauer CanFondo Ride and all the cycling participants for supporting Steve's CanFondo.” His worship Mayor Krantz added: "This first time event will not only heighten the interest of cycling in Halton, it will also greatly benefit the capital fundraising campaign for the Milton Pan Am and Parapan Am Velodrome."

Eleanor McMahon, CEO of the Share the Road Cycling Coalition, is also excited about the new Steve Bauer CanFondo: “We are thrilled that cycling legend Steve Bauer has chosen to host a Ride in Halton Region in support of the Pam Am 2015 Velodrome and the Share the Road Cycling Coalition. Cyclists of all ages and abilities will have the opportunity to ride with one of Canada’s best in the sport, and at the same time support initiatives that further the development of safe cycling programs and the growth of bicycle friendly communities in Ontario. We look forward to participating in this exciting event.”

In addition, Steve will be announcing over the coming weeks, additional well-known celebrities from the world of cycling who will join him, in supporting all the participants and the important causes to benefit from Steve Bauer’s CanFondo.
