The championships host clubs - Tripleshot and VYPRS – are also offering a new club standings at the event this weekend.

In announcing the new category, co-organizers Bryson Bowers, Larry Reynolds, and Lister Farrar said “We think it’s important that clubs encourage all members to race, and the TT and TTT are both a test of elites and a friendly participation event. They are also a stepping stone to other kinds of racing, and this recognition is an incentive for clubs to encourage both emerging racers and potential champions to race. So our message to clubs is “Bring everyone, they’ll have a blast and contribute to their club’s standings.”

Contending clubs are expected to include Escape Velocity (Vancouver), Pro-City- Victoria Academy of Cycling (Victoria), Mid-Island Velo Club (Nanaimo), Russ Hays-Accent Inns Racing Team (Victoria), Vancouver Youth Performance Development Squad (VYPRS) (Comox),and Tripleshot Cycling Club (Victoria).

Club standings will be calculated from all the club member performances in the TT and TTT.  There will be points for every finisher, starting with 10 points for each ITT winner and 40 points for each TTT winning team.

A rider’s club will be their primary racing club, determined by the club on their Cycling BC license.  Composite teams are welcome and encouraged. Those riding for a composite team will see their share of the team’s points go to their primary club.

All riders may ride ‘up’, but not ‘down’ without bumping up the team category.  The team category is determined by the ‘highest’ level rider on the team.  For e.g. U15s can ride on a u17 team, but one u17 will bump a team of u15s up to u17. Likewise one cat1,2 will bump a team up to cat 1,2. Masters can ride up, e.g. a 50+ can ride on a 40+ team.  One 40+ makes a 50+ team a 40+ team. Girls and women may ride on male teams, or separately.

Race Categories: U13, U15, U17, U19, Cat1,2, Cat 3,4, 30+, 40+, 50+, men and women.  Riders can ride up a category: e.g. U13 in U15 or U17, or 50+ in 40+.  For teams not wishing to contest any of those categories, a mixed category is provided. Their points also contribute to their clubs.
