Mark June 21st on your calendar: more teams, bigger prizes add up to even better racing! The elite women's race at the 2015 edition of the Preston Street Criterium is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever.

Olympic medalist Tara Whitten and her Cyclery-Opus teammates will be headlining the event, hoping to extend the local club's five-year winning streak on Preston Street. But they will face stiff competition from national team member Denise Ramsden's Vancouver-based Trek Red Truck Racing Team, who will be coming to Ottawa on their way to the Canadian Road Championships the following week in Quebec.

As added incentive, the 2015 edition of the Preston Street Criterium features equal prize money for the top-five elite women's places as for the elite men's event, with $1,000 on the line for the winner. Even better, new for 2015 the women's winner will step on the giant scale and get her weight in Kitchesippi beer, just like the men's winner!

The 43rd edition of the Preston Street Criterium will be run on a one-kilometre circuit in the heart of Ottawa's Little Italy. The traditional Father's Day date (June 21st) comes just one week before the Canadian Road Championships in Ville-St-Georges, Quebec, and will serve as a perfect leg opener for riders aspiring to the Canadian title.

The full women's and men's races - along with highlights of the ever-popular kids' races - will once again be broadcast via tape delay on Rogers TV in both Ottawa and Toronto. Details on the broadcast date will be available closer to the event.
