Canada finished the cycling events at the Parapan Am Games on Thursday with five medals in the time trial events, including a sweep of the podium spots in the Tandem. This gives cycling a final tally of 14 medals at the Parapans in four days of competition on the road and the track - 4 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze.

The tandem team of Daniel Chalifour and Alexandre Cloutier won a total of four medals - 3 gold and a silver - to lead the cycling squad. Mark Ledo also won gold in the H3-5 road race. The tandem of Robbi Weldon and Audrey Lemieux won silver, as did Shelley Gautier and Michael Sametz, while Charles Moreau took two bronze and single bronze medals went to Nicole Clermont, Robert Labbe, Louis Albert Corriveau-Jolin and the tandem team of Shawna Ryan and Joanie Caron.

"Just like a few weeks ago at the Pan-American Games, our para-cycling team surpassed our expected medal tally; even with some categories having combined gender classes. The results we have accomplished here are definitely good for the morale and we hope that these performances will carry momentum leading and during the fast approaching Paralympic Games in one year's time," said Jacques Landry, Head Coach and Director of High Performance at Cycling Canada.

Landry added: "Not only have we been able to reap some great results through these Games, but the Parapan-American Games has also served to test our systems. Through this test, we've identified a few gaps that we will steadfastly work on mitigating over the course of the next few months, in order to arrive in Rio with a nicely polished performance machine."
