Dideriksen wins and leads Boels Ladies Tour

The first stage of the Ladies Tour Boels was won by Amalie Dideriksen (Boels-Dolmans). The Danish, former junior world champion,  beat Swedens Sara Mustonen (Team Liv-Plantur) in the sprint and is the first leader. Third was the Italian Barbara Guarischi (Canyon SRAM Racing).

The stage washighlited by an attack by the two riders, Minke van Dongen (South Holland) and Kasia Niewiadoma (Rabo Liv). The duo were brought back just ten kilometers before the finish after they took more than five minutes on the bunch. Dideriksen was delighted with her victory. "It was actually not quite the intention that they would ride for me, we intended the sprint for Chantal Blaak. But they lost contact with me in the run to the finish. I dared not count that I would win here today, because I'm just back from the Olympic Games in Rio - I rode the omnium -. and was even some ill  upon my return, But I apparently (I still) had quite a good sprint in the legs. "

Wednesday is a team time trial of 26.4 kilometres. Boels-Dolmans won both the Energy Guard Tour and in the World Tour match in Vargarda in this discipline, so Dideriksen could extend her margin.

Canada's Leah Kirchmann (Team Liv-Plantur) finished ninth at two seconds back and Karol-Ann Canuel (Boels Dolmans Cyclingteam) thirty-first at eight seonds.
