British Columbia Tour Company To Distribute Bicycles To Needy Families

Bicycles Without Borders, a non-profit subsidiary of Fernie Fat-Tire Adventures, Western Canada's leading mountain bike tour operator, is soliciting donations of bicycles and cash to assist in their goal of distributing bicycles to needy families in developing countries in Central and South America.

The seed for Bicycles Without Borders was planted when company founder and president Mike Brcic was in Guyana this past winter filming a documentary on the Macushi people of the Rupununi region. Seeing the importance of the bicycle as a mode of transport and communication, as well as a source of activity and fun for local children, he envisioned an organization that would put much-needed bicycles in families' hands via local NGO partners.

BWB is seeking donations of well-maintained new or used bicycles, as well as financial contributions to assist with shipping costs. In addition, all 2006 week and two-week tours booked with Fernie Fat-Tire Adventures result in a $10 donation to BWB. Fernie Fat-Tire Adventures Offering Women's Mountain Bike Skills Camps in BC

Fernie Fat-Tire Adventures, one of Canada's leading mountain bike tour operators since 1996, is offering women's skills camps in British Columbia this summer. Ranging from 2 to 6 days, their skills camps will be led by renowned Sugoi Dirt Series coach Kim Shopland, and are targeted at every level of rider. With a maximum guest to coach ratio of 5 to 1, participants will get excellent hands-on instruction in mountain biking techniques such as braking, cornering, steeps, and, for the brave, stunt riding.

Accommodations are in their deluxe lodge overlooking the spectacular Lizard Range of the Rocky Mountains, and the camps come fully catered with healthy and delicious food. Extra activities include yoga, hiking and river tubing. There is also availability and activities for non-mountain-biking friends and family who want to come along for the fun.

For more information or to make a booking, visit their website at
www.ferniefattire.com or call Kim at 1-888-423-7849.
