Development in Riding Technique (DIRT) Camp offers a unique learning experience in a bilingual/English immersion environment

Silas Development in Riding Technique (DIRT) Camp, Quebec’s premiere mountain biking camp, today announced its schedule for the 2006 summer season.

DIRT Camp offers Freeride, Cross-Country, Downhill and BMX mountain biking training to beginner, intermediate and advanced, boys and girls ages 9 to 15. Additionally, DIRT Camp offers a bilingual environment, with an emphasis on English immersion for francophone campers.

This year, DIRT Camp will be located at the “Balnea Jardins Interieurs” a 400,000-acre region just south of Mt. Bromont that includes a private lake and hundreds of kilometres of trails. Campers and counsellors will share a large single-building dormitory, complete with full dining facilities and a meal plan. Each room accommodates four campers and has a private bathroom. With a maximum of 35 campers per session, DIRT Camp maintains a 5:1 ratio of campers to trainers/counsellors at all times. DIRT Camp offers six one-week sessions in July and August, 2006 at a cost of $585.00 per week.

A typical day at DIRT Camp starts with an 8 AM wake-up, breakfast, a morning session (ex.: downhill training), a swim, lunch, technique training/workshops (ex.: bicycle maintenance and repair), an afternoon swim, dinner, an evening training session, an evening activity (ex.: movie night) and lights-out at 10 PM.

“By focusing on mountain biking techniques and training, we have set ourselves apart from the dozens of other summer camps in Quebec,” said Jeff Silas, Director, DIRT Camp. “Whether kids are beginners, intermediates or experts, we can teach them to become better and safer riders by combining group activities with individualized attention. The staff at DIRT Camp love mountain biking, and nothing brings us more pleasure than getting young riders interested in our sport. Mountain biking is a passion and anyone who shares in that passion is part of the same community,” Jeff added.
