November 7/98 11:29 am - Drugs Story, Birthday, Wedding, `Cross, Christmas Cards

Michael Barry in the News

There was a very good article in today's (Saturday, November 7th) Globe and Mail - started on the back page of the front section. The article was trying to put a personal face on the effect of drug use in sports, and how it shatters the dreams of young athletes. In Michael Barry's case, it has made him refocus his goals of being a professional European road racer, to being one who competes in the (relatively) drug-free cycling world of North America (Michael will be riding with Saturn, as we have reported earlier in the year). A good, balanced article, that doesn't preach.

Yet Another Wedding

Roadie Tim Lefebvre is getting hitched (his words, not ours...) on December 12th, and taking a Christmas honeymoon in New Zealand. I guess our wedding invite is in the mail Tim???

Happy Birthday

To...mountain bike pro Bill Hurley. Bill's birthday is tomorrow (Sunday, November 8th).

Classifieds

We are up-to-date on the Classifieds! (Oops, two more just came in...). We will be deleting some of the older ones shortly, so make sure you read through them soon.

`Cross Nationals

Registrations for the 1998 Cyclo-cross Nationals are coming in from the website (link in the upper right corner), but time is running out for early entry (and the chance to save $5.00. If you are planning on attending, please register as soon as you can - it helps the organizer plan things out.

Feedback Wanted

We are exploring the possibility of printing a limited run of cycling-motif Christmas cards, and need your feedback. Working with artist Jono Pye (who did the cover for our current, 'Made in Canada' issue), we would offer a set of cards with 5 orginal cycling designs - 3 Christmas and 2 more general. Before we embark upon this venture, we need to know if there is a demand for the cards. If a set of 12 cards (6 Christmas, 6 not) were offered for $12 (plus taxes and shipping), would you buy them? How many? If we had them ready by the end of November, would that be sufficient time? Please e-mail your comments to us.
