Bermuda Grand Prix Cut Short

The Bermuda Bicycle Association and the organizers of the CD&P Bermuda Grand Prix announced that stage 2 - XL Lighthouse Challenge ITT in Southampton - would be the final stage of the 2006 event. Due to the serious threat of Hurricane Florence and the potential for damage to Bermuda‚s infrastructure, it was recommended that all overseas participants attempt to secure amended travel plans to depart Bermuda before Sunday morning.

BBA president Francois Bertrand said, „Though we are reluctant to have to cancel this event with only half of the racing completed, it is with the safety of our overseas guests in mind that we have taken this decision. No one should take this storm with anything less than the most concern and where possible non-residents should attempt to depart Bermuda in advance of the severe weather.‰
