Cycling British Columbia is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Wooles as Provincial Coach and High Performance Director. Richard brings to the association a wealth of coaching experience that includes specialist skills in track endurance, track sprint, road, and mountain bike disciplines.

Richard joins Cycling British Columbia after two years with the UCI World Cycling Centre in Switzerland where he held the position of Track Sprint & Endurance Coach. Prior to his work with cycling's international governing body, he was Head Coach of the Women's National Program for Great Britain's Olympic Cycling Team. Richard also has extensive experience as a competitive cyclist and competed for ten years in national and international events, including the World Championships and Commonwealth Games.

In making the announcement, Keith Ryan, Chief Executive Officer of Cycling BC, stated "The Board of Directors and staff are delighted that we have been able to secure the services of a coach with such extensive experience as both a coach and athlete. Richard will be a great addition to our staff and will play a critical role in helping BC's athletes and coaches reach their full potential"

Richard has recently arrived in Canada and will be taking up his duties as soon as his personal commitments permit. One of his first duties will be to participate in the hiring of regional cycling coaches in Victoria, Kamloops, and the Fraser Valley.

Cycling British Columbia is the governing body for the sport of competitive cycling in BC. The association is responsible for the development of the sport in all its disciplines, which include Road, Track, Mountain Biking and BMX. Cycling BC is a member of the international cycling community through its affiliation with the Canadian Cycling Association.
