Zach Bell Joins Symmetrics

Symmetrics Cycling is pleased to announce that one of Canada's best track riders, Zach Bell, will be part of the road and track program for 2007. From Whitehorse, the Yukon, the 23-year-old year old Bell joins the team after riding with Jet Fuel and Team Rite Aid the past few seasons.

This past year, Bell nabbed four medals at the National Track Championships in Dieppe, New Brunswick--he won gold in the men's points race, gold as part of the team pursuit, silver in the individual pursuit and silver in the men's scratch race. At the Pan Am Championships this year, Bell took a bronze medal in the pursuit. Riding at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Bell took 9th overall and broke the decade-old Canadian pursuit record set by Olympic medalist Brian Walton.

Bell's arrival to the S-Team marks the squad's continued focus on the velodrome in preparation for the upcoming Olympics as well as Pan Am Games and Commonwealth Games. This past year, Symmetrics Cycling registered as a UCI Track Team, the first and thus far only Canadian team to do so.

For 2007, Bell looks ahead to the National Championships, as well as representing Canada at the World Cups and World Championships.

With his strong pursuiting skills also comes a fantastic crit and road rider. Bell is coming to the team for both his track prowess and as an invaluable addition to the men's road team. In 2006, Bell had several wins on the road, including at the Tour of Shenandoah (Stage 7, as well as the Sprinter's jersey), and the Poolsville road race.
