The Chicks Cycling Club is pleased to announce their new alignment with Mighty Riders. Mighty Riders, a bike shop based in the heart of Vancouver, has opened its doors to welcome the more than 80 members that the Chicks currently represent. The Chicks Cycling Club is a two part developmental not-for-profit women's cycling organization for women based on the Lower Mainland. The club connects women through the sport of cycling, and in that regard organize group rides, races, and provide education ranging from learning to ride to learning to race. "We are very excited to be a part of an organization that shares our grass roots philosophy of getting people on bikes" says Ed Luciano, owner of Mighty Riders.
In addition to providing support for the club as a whole, Mighty Riders is also a primary sponsor of the Chicks race team, a new team that started out in 2006 in response to the club's desire to have an elite women's team compete under the Chicks banner. The team, consisting of Cat 3 riders, is built from within. Judy Latoski, the Chicks president and team director states "We want to support women moving up the ranks from Cat 4 to Cat 1/2/3 and eventually moving on to the national system or to a semi/professional team. The race team offers that avenue".
The Chicks Cycling Club would also like to recognize and thank all of their returning sponsors and supporters, including Loeka Clothing, Schwalbe North America, 3 Degrees West, The Stick, Team Clif, LadySport and our sports science team of Spoke'n Performance Coaching Solutions, Mynd Matters, Sherri Leigh Iwaschuck RMT, Human Motion, City Sports Physiotherapy, Moveo Sport & Rehabilitation Centre, Form Physiotherapy, The Healing Point and West Fourth Chiropractic. The Club would also like to thank Fabio's Corner Market for their support of the club and offering of a warm dry place to meet!
