The Northern BC Games in Fort St. John, BC, is looking for cyclists for the cyclo-cross event being held February 9 and 10th, 2007.

Eligible riders for the 'Northerns' must be a BC resident living north of 100 Mile House and at least 12 years old as of December 31, 2007. The two age classes are Under 19 and Senior/Masters. More classes will come available depending on the numbers of riders signed up.

This is the first Canadian Games ever, summer or winter (to my knowledge) to ever have a cyclo-cross cycling event.

Any type of bike will do. Mountain, road bike with knobby tires, BMX or 'Cross' bike. We don't care. We want you out there.

Cyclo-cross looks like a bike race on trails, dirt, snow, grass and ice with a couple of added in barriers to make you get off your bike and run for a 100 meters or so. It is hugely popular in Europe and has really gained popularity in North America.

The 2.8 km circuit is done in laps around the North Peace High School area. The event will run from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the temperatures. It is entirely off-road.

Cost is the $65 Northern BC sign up-registration fee. You can get a weekend license of you don't have a UCI racing license.
