Team Director Josée Robitaille has provided the following "unofficial" announcement regarding the 2007 Trek VW team.

The team has just signed a contract with VW and Trek for the next 3 years. We have also decided to go for Continental status - I just completed all the paper work this week. An official press release will be released in January 2007.

For 2007 Trek VW will be a squad of 9 senior riders and 2 juniors. We will attend more stage races: Tour de Beauce, Altoona, BC Superweek, Montreal-Boston, the Coupe de la Paix, Road and Track nationals.

I am still working on the calendar. A lot of our riders are young and are still attending school, so we'll figure out the rest of the calendar later.

The riders returning with the team are:

Jean-Sébastien Béland
Alexandre Cloutier
Keven Lacombe
Ryan Mackenzie
Martin St-Laurent

New riders are:

Christian Deshaies (1st year Espoir)
William Goodfellow (1st year Espoir)
André Tremblay (1st year Espoir)
Nick Rowe
Marc Allard (Jr)
Guillaume Blais-Dufour (Jr)

We will be renting a house in California from January to March, so the guys can go down to train and race when they are able to take some time off from school. Keven Lacombe, André Tremblay, Ryan Mackenzie and Alexandre Cloutier will spend most of their time there. William Goodfellow will go for a couple of weeks and then will leave to spend some time racing in Belgium.

The team should all be back in Quebec for May. Most of the team will stay in Bromont, we have a house there, so they can also train on the track.

We're very excited with the upcoming season. Our sponsors and partners are all back to start the season, Volkswagen, Trek, Astral Media, Oakley, Giro, Speedplay, OGC, Giordana and some others will be confirm in January.

If the guys stay healthy and don't get injured we should have a good season, one thing is sure, we're gone try really hard to have a really good one.
