LA Track World Cup Team

We have learned that the CCA will be sending the following athletes to Los Angeles to compete in the Track World Cup to be held January 19-21.

Team Sprint - Travis Smith, Yannick Morin and Cam MacKinnon. Notes: Smith and MacKinnon have just returned from Australia, where they have been preparing and training under the tutelage of Australian national track coach Martin Barras (a transplanted Canadian). According to Kris Westwood, Director High Performance Programs, the team needs to finish no lower than 8th in order for the CCA to continue supporting the program. "We need to focus funding on events where we have a strong chance to qualify for the Olympics, so this is a last chance to retain the program."

Points Race - Gina Grain for the women's event and Martin Gilbert for the men's.

Women's Scratch Race - Gina Grain will race, depending upon the schedule. The Points Race is the priority because it is the Olympic event.

Madison - Martin Gilbert and Ryan Mckenzie

Keirin - Travis Smith

Men's Sprint - Travis Smith and Cam MacKinnon

Other Canadians will be there - Symmetrics is registered as a UCI track team, and Zach Bell will race the Individual Pursuit for Symmetrics. It is likely that Symmetrics will also have a Team Pursuit squad, and that Svein Tuft will race the Individual Pursuit. Team R.A.C.E. could also have Julia Bradley racing.
