Symmetrics Preps for LA Track World Cup

Following Symmetrics Cycling's successes at the 2006 National Track Championships on the smooth wood board of the Dieppe, New Brunswick velodrome, the S-Team decided to kick it up a notch for 007.

Already, Symmetrics has registered as a UCI Professional Track Team, picked up Canadian track ace Zach Bell, won a local money Madison, and most recently won the Giant Bicycles 6-Days of Burnaby. All of these riders have decent track experience with Bell (2 top-10 World Cup Points Race results so far this season) and Evans (5th Jr. World's Points Race) perhaps the most seasoned. The next test will be the third round of the UCI Track Classics held in Los Angeles, January 19-21.

Joining Svein Tuft, Cam Evans, and Christian Meier will be newly signed Bell and past Junior National Track Champion Marsh Cooper. The entire team has made a commitment to the track program and will be focusing on the team pursuit event with Olympic qualification in 2008 and beyond the ultimate goal. Los Angeles is the immediate target with the Pam Am Cycling Championships the first step in Olympic qualification.

The Los Angeles World Cup will start off on Friday January 19th with Marsh Cooper contesting the 15km Scratch Race and Svein Tuft riding the 4km Individual Pursuit. The nest day will see Zach Bell contest the 30km Points race and the entire squad entered in the 4km Team Pursuit. The lineup will consist (at press time) of Bell, Evans, Tuft and Meier with Cooper as the alternate. Sunday will be the final day and Symmetrics National Champion pairing of Evans and Meier will contest the always exciting 4 km Madison.
