Friday night at the Forest City Velodrome a hearty group of 14 riders hit the Boards to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis and the FCVD Velo-Kids programs. 800 Laps and $1,000 was the goal, and both were achieved. 3 hours and a box of cookies later the riders celebrated the fact that over $1,460.00 was raised for the groups.

A big thank you to Piers & Kim Davidge for organizing the 2 annual event to support MS and the Velodrome in London Ontario.

The charity ride was the kick-off to a big weekend of racing at Forest City...... The CanAmQue Challenge began Saturday nigh and continued on Sunday afternoon. 15 riders from Quebec tested their legs, and a full field of women contested the sprints and scratch races.

Day One

It was one for the record books. All three groups showed their strength and speed in the 14 events run. The feature Sprint tournament went to Ontario's Joseph Veloce. The feature 100 lap Scratch Race went to Kirk Albers of U.S.A. with Quebec's Martin Roseboom finishing second. The Ontario ladies, led by Joanna Wiersma, took the Pursuit and Scratch race with Quebec second. The excitement drawn from the crowd was evident by a number of primes offered throughout the night.

Day Two
Two exciting event packed days of indoor track racing. The goal of the FCV Association is to develop youth in the sport of cycling and these two days have shown that the plan is working. The junior men and ladies are showing remarkable improvement with each race. Riders like 14 year old Thomson Remo from Fort DuLac Wisconsin is a typical example. He arrived and rode the steeply banked velodrome for the very first time on Saturday and took to it like a duck to water. The Quebec ladies also showed that they could adapt to the track very quickly.

Kirk Albers was the top point maker for team USA picking up 8 points with team members Joe Brennan picking up 6 pts and Thomson Remo 3 points. Top point getter for Quebec was Martin Roseboom with 7 and top Ontario rider was Joanna Wiersma with 9 points.

Next race is scheduled for Saturday Feb 3 at 7pm
