Discovery to Quit Team Sponsorship

USA Today newspaper is reporting that the specialty cable television network Discovery Channel will not renew its sponsorship of the ProTour team bearing its name after the current season.

USA Today quotes Bill Stapleton (Lance Armstrong's agent and executive at Tailwind Sports, the team owner) as stating that the dismissal of Discovery Channel president Billy Campbell last Monday is the reason that the sponsorship will not be renewed.

"This would not have happened if Billy Campbell was still there, this is about their change in management."

Stapleton says that Tailwind is already looking into a title sponsor to replace Discovery Channel.
