London Velodrome News

It is with great pleasure that the members of the Forest City Velodrome are announcing the official launch of the promotion leading up to the Spring 6-Day Bicycle race in London Ontario.

The MS Society of London will be the corporate Partner for this event. The MS Society does great work in the London area and the members of the FCV wanted to help bring awareness to the fund-raising goals of the MS Society.

Sarah Mann the supervisor of Fund-raising Events in London for the MS Society indicated ... "cycling is a big part of our local fund-raising calendar and the MS 6-Days of London would benefit both organizations".

The MS 6-Days of London, will be contested over 2 weekends beginning Friday March 23rd at 7pm. The local MS Chapter will use the (2) Friday race nights to get local supporters to see first hand what is involved with racing a 6 Day event.

The FCV will be making a donation to the MS Society from the gate admission receipts for the event. The FCV will sell corporate packages to the Corporate Box Seats high in the Gondola at the Velodrome.... More information will follow. Local businesses can get on board by contacting the ForestCityVelodrome@gmail.com we will get back to each business with an unique way to help create awareness for the MS Society and the FCV.

Racing will take place over 6 nights, teams of 2 riders will accumulate laps and points to determine the Championship Team. Race Director Bob Schelstraete of London, said, the racing will follow our usual 6-Day format with a twist, there will be both "A" & "AA" Madison Team competing on all 6 nights of competition. A total of 6 "A" teams will compete for the Grand Prize, with the 5 "AA" Madison Teams competing of different prizes. Riders wishing to compete need to be at the Velodrome on Saturday March 10th at 6pm for Madison Training in preparation for the 6 days of racing.

The Forest City Velodrome is 138m in length with 50 degree banking in the corners, Top speed for the events will be in excess of 66kph.
