Press Release - Hardwood Hills is pleased to announced the launch of the Hardwood Hills Mountain Bike Devo Team, as part of it's new initiatives as a National Development Center.
Hardwood Hills Mountain Bike Devo Team
To provide the best possible racing program for high school aged mountain bike racers, while allowing each team member the chance to grow as an athlete and an individual in a positive atmosphere.
1. Preparation of each athlete in the various aspects of the sport of mountain bike racing and riding - specifically physiological, technical, psychological and tactical.
2. Demonstrate the commitment and lifestyle each athlete will need to compete in the exciting sport of mountain bike racing and enjoy it for life.
3. Create an atmosphere where athletes work together as a team, while developing as
participants in an individual sport.
4. Provide training sessions so that athletes can come together to train with other competitive racers who share similar goals and interests.
5. Provide each athlete with a personalized training program to help them achieve their goals.
The Hardwood Hills Mountain Bike Devo team will meet every weekend form April through August and Wednesday evenings from May through August as well. The Team will meet twice a month through the off season of September through March. These meetings will consist of a variety of sessions which include training days and races.
With the hosting facility of the Devo Team being the Hardwood Hills National Development Center, the Team has access to a number of great trails, a weekly race series and an excellent testing facility.
Steve Neal - Devo Team Coach
The Coach of the Hardwood Hills Mountain Bike Devo Team is Steve Neal. Steve has raced mountain bike for nine years, with five of those years as an Elite rider. Steve has twice placed top 20 at the Mountain Bike National Championships as an Elite.
A Level 2 Mountain Bike Coach (interim), with the Canadian Cycling Assoc., and a full FACT Canada certified mountain bike coach, Steve has coached both male and female athletes, age range from 13 to 32.
Steve has a general love of mountain bike riding and racing, and wants to pass on the technical and training skills he has learned to help other young riders achieve their goals within the sport.
Hardwood Hills National Development Center
Hardwood Hills has recently been awarded status as a National Development Center for the Canadian Cycling Association. The purpose of the center is to provide programs and services with the focus on athlete development in cycling. This will ensure that new talent is being recognized and developed so that Canada continues to produce athletes taking center stage worldwide.

Winter Downhill Race at Canada Olympic Park

On Sunday, Februrary 7th there was a Fat Tire Downhill Race at Canada Olympic Park. (Calgary Alberta) The race was won by 16 year old Kyle Biggy. There was a total of 59 bikers in the race.
Steve Fleck moves to Sugoi
Sugoi is pleased to announce the arrival of Steve Fleck to the company. Fleck will be overseeing all of Sugoi's media communications and assisting with the sponsorship selections of individual athletes, teams and events.
