Another Dam Race, Arizona

Just got off the telephone with Larry Smith, the organizer of Another Dam Race in Parker, Arizona. We reported earlier in the week that Eric Wohlberg (Shaklee) won one of the warmup races on Thursday. Today was the road race - a 33 mile (55 kilometre) loop that the men covered 3 times and the women twice. We have very little on the results so far (the officials are still haggling over them, apparently), but we do know that Sylvain Beauchamp (Shaklee) finished 3rd. The first two male riders soloed in, and then Beauchamp won the field sprint from a small lead chase group. There were about 150 men in the field. In the women's race there were no Canadians in the top 5 (all that Smith knew about at this point).

It turns out that Jeannie Longo has brought over a strong team, and they have been fairly dominant all week. Elita is at the race, and so are a number of other Canadian riders. Larry Smith has promised results, but we probably won't see them until Monday.
