This job is about changing people's lives. You'll do this by registering them to participate in our 2-day charity bike ride to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer. You'll also inspire them, serving as their primary source of information and guidance as they begin training and fundraising for the event. You'll do this primarily through phone and email communications, as well as group orientation meetings with registered and interested people.
To excel in this role, you'll need to be an enthusiastic, team-oriented person with phone sales experience in a fast-paced, customer service environment. The ideal candidate will have cycling experience in order to offer participants training advice and support. A working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and basic internet applications is essential, as well as proven success in balancing multiple priorities and setting/achieving performance goals. You must be able and willing to work different shifts and some weekends. Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal/written), public speaking and organization skills are critical. Having a car is desired and/or an ability to get to all areas of city and all suburbs by public transportation. A bachelor's degree is preferred.
Rider Recruitment Manager
We're seeking a dynamic sales leader with cycling and event experience who can implement a strategic plan for recruiting participants and encouraging them to meet a training and fundraising goals for a 2-day bike ride. The Rider Recruitment Manager will oversee a team of Ride Guides (participant support staff) to reach for and exceed office goals.
Your ability to direct and motivate the Ride Guides will be integral to the success of the event. Ride Guides will focus directly on registering participants and guiding them through fundraising and training. Contact with our potential and registered participants occurs predominantly via phone communication and weekly public presentations. We will measure your team's success by the number of participants that register for the event, the number of participants that participate in the event and by the total amount of donations raised.
In addition to handling the day-to-day management of the Ride Guides, you will participate in planning the event by supporting the efforts of the Logistics team, who will focus on building a volunteer force, identifying the route and acquiring all necessary permits and supplies for the event.
Qualified candidates will possess three or more years of progressively responsible management/supervisory experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Previous experience in sales/telesales is advantageous. You should bring previous cycle and event experience to the table and have an impressive track record of success in motivating yourself and others to achieve and exceed departmental goals. Project management, communication (verbal/written), organization and presentation skills are critical, as is the ability to balance multiple priorities and demands in a high-pressure setting. Proficiency with MS Word and Excel, and ability to quickly understand performance data is also required. A bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
