Colter Young won the tough '5 Hills' 90 km road race, Sunday, with a time of 3:05:16 hours. Pat Ferris was second at 3:08:59 and Roger St. Jean third at 3:10:05.

The '5 Hills Race' is a difficult event, starting at Cecil lake and going west and through the Beatton River hills, then north over the Montney Creek hills and to the turnaround at Upper Pine School. The riders return to Cecil Lake by riding the other side of the Montney and Beatton River hills to get back to Cecil Lake.

The rain held off and even the sun came out, at times, so weather was not a factor.

Colter Young was the fastest up the hills. Pat Ferris and Roger St. Jean kept up until the Montney Creek hill, on the return. Colter rode away on the South Montney hill and never looked back. The rest of the riders came in at ones' and twos.

Darren Guliov rode the 90 km by himself, which was good training for his upcoming 'Ironman' and was 4th at 3:17:39. Richard Wood edged out Barb Polehoykie for 5th at 3:22:39. Marie Young had 51:20 for the 20 km event.

This Sunday is the 23rd running of the 15 Mile trophy's on the Montney road. Robin Baillie set the course record last year, of 34:02, to win the Blizzard Trophy. Lisa Verbisky became a six-time Phoenix trophy winner and Colter Young won the Under 19 trophy. All will be favourites to repeat as winners. Race time is 2 pm.

Coming up:
-Thursday Baldonnel time trial at 7 pm.
-Sunday is the 15 Mile Phoenix / Blizzard Trophy Time trial starting from the Montney Pullout at 2 pm.
