The weather office predicted rain for Sunday but Mother Nature had other plans for the riders taking part in the Floraglo BC Cup #3. The inaugural SFU Coastal Kermesse promised a challenging race and, but unlike the Meteorological office, delivered on its commitment.

The 1.4km grind up a 6.4% grade and a 250m climb that averaged a 9% grade made for a tough day for some of the riders but not seemingly for Leah Goldstein (Symmetrics). The Women's race saw her power away from the field and hold a sizeable lead for all but the early part of the race. Alison Testroete (Team Expresscopy.com) and Leah Guloien (Team Giant) took 2nd and 3rd place respectively to round out the top three. Marni Hambleton took fourth place to pick up valuable BC Cup points that ensured she retained 2nd place in Floraglo standings while the win by Leah Goldstein saw her leapfrog Marnie into 1st place. Alison Testroete's 2nd place translates into 3rd place.

The course was equally hard on the elite male riders with fewer than 20 riders completing the race. The Men's BC Cup saw the Symmetrics Team dominate the race and the final standings. Harris Roubaix winner, Will Routley, took first place in front of team mates Andrew Pinfold and Svein Tuft. Fourth place was taken by yet another Symmetrics rider, Jeff Sherstobitoff. Will Routley's second win of the season saw him move up to second place on the Floraglo standings between Rob Britton and Jamie Sparling of Team LaZboy.
