Whether you are looking for an individual challenge, a chance to ride with your child, or an opportunity to do some cramming before the Test, the North Shore Credit Union 2007 Pre-Test XC race is the event for you.

Proudly sponsored by the North Shore Credit Union, the Pre-Test benefits the Don Ross Secondary School Outdoor Leadership program while providing winners a chance to win an entry into the Test of Metal.

"We're proud to be able to help a valuable curricular program at Don Ross that helps kids learn many valuable leadership qualities that will benefit them for the rest of their lives," said Pre-Test race director Jim Douglas. "It's a program that reflects the value of life-long recreational pursuit."

The prize for each of the adult categories is an entry into the following week's Test of Metal.

"Getting an entry into the Test has become a real challenge, so TOM organizers wanted a way for competitive riders to have a chance to earn an entry," Douglas explained.

Second place in the adult cats will earn a spot in the 2007 Gearjammer and third place gets an entry to the new Grass Roots Mountain Bike Association (GRMBA) championship to be held in Squamish this September.

The classic-style multi-lap event XC event takes place in Brackendale June 9th at 11AM. The 6 Km course average time should be around 25 minutes per lap for the average rider. Laps as follows:

12-13 male/female ˆ 3 laps

Douglas encourages people to pre-register on-line through the Test of Metal website (www.testofmetal.com). "The total number of entries is limited to 250 and this year's event is ramping up, so get your entry done soon," said Douglas.

The course is marked with pink signs with black arrows. There will be a minor course change on race day after some active logging operations finish.
