Summer has arrived and the weather is perfect for a leisurely bike ride around the city or a thrilling race at a local cycling event, but no matter how much you love riding, you can’t stay on your bike all the time. With over 40 races in BC in June and July alone, it’s impossible to compete in every race!

So what’s a cycling enthusiast to do? Volunteer! Volunteering at a cycling event is a great way to share your enthusiasm with other cyclists, and it provides an opportunity for you to be involved in the festivities even if you’re not riding.

Created by 2010 Legacies Now, VolWeb.caTM connects volunteers with a variety of cycling and sporting events across BC. Whether you’re interested in taking care of the bikes at the BMX Pre-Worlds, course marshalling at the Tour de White Rock, or making sure racers get their much-needed nutrients and fluids at the BC Bike Race, there’s something for everyone to do.

And if you happen to be racing at one of the great events, encourage your friends and family to volunteer while they cheer you on! Get them involved and excited; show them how exhilarating riding can be.

Some upcoming bike events listed on VolWeb.ca include:

• Yaletown Grand Prix – July 1
• BC Bike Race – July 1-7
• Tour de White Rock – July 13-15
• Tour de Gastown – July 18
• Tour de Delta – July 20-22
• Kokanee Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival – July 21-29
• BMX Pre-Worlds – July 20-22
• BMX World Championships – July 26-29
• Cops for Cancer Day Ride in Fort Langley – July 28
• Out of a Limb Cycle Ride – Sept 9-15
