Sydor to Miss Nationals

For the first time in a very long time, Alison Sydor (Rocky Mountain-Haywood) will miss the mountain bike national championships (at Mt Washington on Vancouver Island (July 19-22)). After winning the Trans Germany recently with partner Carsten Bresser (with a margin measured in hours), Alison was asked by her team to participate in the Trans Alps Challenge.

Yes, I'm racing the Trans Alps Challenge now with my Trans Germany partner again Carsten Bresser. We had a really great partnership at T Germany and I'm sure it's going to be good to have the experience together, as we will have more competition in T Alps for sure in the mixed category. But now I've completed 2 of these races and I think Carsten has done at least 8, so he's an amazing partner with so much experience. Super low key, to temper the qualities I bring to the partnership.

I was not scheduled for this race at the start of the year, Seamus (McGrath) was planned to do this race, not me. Lesley (Tomlinson - team manager) requested me to do T Alps while we were in Willingen Bike Festival the week before Champery.

Missing the Nationals could mean that Sydor will not go to the world championships - the CCA (Canadian Cycling Association) has made it a criteria for attending Worlds. Alison said that she has approached the CCA High Performance Director Kris Westwood about the situation.
