Michael Barry Update
We just received an update from Michael Barry (T-Mobile), who continues to work his way back from pneumonia.
I am okay and am slowly getting back in shape. I raced in Holland and quickly realized that the road back to top fitness would be long, and that the infection hurt me more than I had imagined. So, it is disappointing to miss out on the Tour but I also realize that I am fortunate I wasn't worse off. I have had many friends alert me to the fact that pneumonia can be damaging and if not careful can relapse easily. So, this is something I have been concerned with and aware of, and the team has been very supportive.
Sadly, I won't be at Nationals this weekend as I have to race in Austria on Sunday. After Austria we have a team training camp and then I will race in the Tour of Denmark, Tour de L'Ain, Eneco Tour, Plouay, Poland and the end of the season one day races and Classics. I won't be at the Vuelta as we are expecting another baby then.
I would love to do the Worlds, especially with a solid Canadian team. It is after the baby will be born so that is good timing as well. My schedule leading up to the race is ideal for conditioning so I think I could be in great form by then if all goes well.
