Eric Smith Joining Volkswagen-Trek Team

The rider from Alberta , now in his first senior year (U23) will join the Volkswagen-Trek Team at the beginning of August.

Eric has had a slow start to the 2007 season, having to endure a long recovery after a very bad crash at the end of the 2006 Junior World Championships.. Now he is healthy again and will join Volkswagen-Trek and will prepare for the Canadian Track Championships in September.

Eric Smith has impressive palmares: the Canadian junior champion 2006 ITT, Canadian champion in individual pursuit, points, the scratch race and the kilo. Eric was also 13th at the Junior Worlds ITT

At the 2006 Tour de Abitibi, Eric won the Prologue and wore the yellow jersey for 3 stages.

A terrific addition to Team Volkswagen-Trek.
