Over the past decade Red Mud Mountain Mayhem has become a mountain biking tradition throughout the Maritimes. The event has grown into one of the largest mountain bike events in Eastern Canada, a magnet for both elite racers and cycling families from across the region. This year Red Mud enters its second decade once again hosting the Atlantic Cross Country Mountain Bike Championships, as well as Stage #3 of the Cycling PEI Mountain Bike Series.

The weekend will consist of three stages: a Short Track race and Uphill Time Trial (the Alpe de Brookvale) on Saturday, August 25th. Then on Sunday, August 26th, Red Mud hosts the Riders of Tomorrow event for young kids and the premiere events of the weekend, the morning CPEI citizens XC event and afternoon Atlantic Championships Cross Country Races.

The Short Track Course is a 1.5km loop, with a climb, double track and technical single-track descent. The Alpe de Brookvale Uphill TT is a short individual timed event, ending with a punishing climb. Times for these two events are close and spectators get a great view of the action. Sunday, the Cross Country races are run on a classic 7km course, consisting of technical and fast flowing single track as well as some grueling double track climbs.

All events are to be held at the Brookvale Nordic Centre, Brookvale PEI. Pre-registration ensures a free event t-shirt for the first 50 racers. Registration onsite runs from 8:30am to 10am Saturday and 8:30am until 10am for morning races and until 11am for afternoon races. Please consult for categories and start times. Cost for the Short Track event will be $15, the Alpe de Brookvale $5, Riders of Tomorrow, free of charge, and the Cross Country events on Sunday are $30. Registrants
