Fraser Third in Athens

Gord Fraser (Mercury) was third last night in the Athens Twilight Criterium, in Athens, Georgia. The Athens race was the third in the Saturn USPro Cycling Tour, behind Saturn riders Frank McCormack and Robbie Ventura. McCormack retains the series' leaders jersey. Saturn also took the women's race, with Anna Wilson winning in front of Nicole Freedman (Kendall Webb). Wilson now takes over the series lead from her Canadian team mate Lyne Bessette.

Lorraine Blancher Signs With Schwinn

1998 National women's Downhill Champion Lorraine Blancher was left high, dry and sponsorless this winter, when GT Canada cut their downhill program for the 1999 season. After months of searching Lorraine has landed a direct deal with Schwinn U.S.A.

Lorraine will fly the Schwinn colours aboard a Straight-8 and 4-banger. Service and Technical Support will be provided by Schwinn U.S.A and Lorraine's original (circa '95) sponsor - Kelowna Cycle. In addition, the '98 champ has secured continuing support from Horizon Air, Jones Soda, Michelin and Hayes.
