Burnaby Velodrome Mid-Year Members Meeting

A reminder that the mid-year members meeting is on Monday, February 25th at 6.30pm in the boardroom at the velodrome. This is a great chance to catch up on all the things that will be happening at the velodrome this year and put forward any new ideas that you would like the Board to look at.

Also, there are several board member positions still available, and if you are interested, please contact me for further details, and we'll use the mid-year meeting as a forum to elect any new board members.

Positions available are:

VP Operations - oversees day-to-day operations of the track, including planning track maintenance, reviewing scheduling, resourcing ongoing programs, etc.

VP Finance (Treasurer) - we have an accountant who balances our books, but we need someone to look after the broader financial aspects of the velodrome, including budgeting, payroll, and projections.

Asst VP, Communications - the number of press releases, media contacts, public relations, and communications venues is growing at an astounding rate, and we need someone to step in an assume a strong assistant role here. We already have two people working on this, and a third (and fourth!) would be really helpful.

Other Positions:
There are plenty of non-board positions available for anyone interested in volunteering a couple of hours each week to help grow and develop the velodrome. We'll be posting these opportunities on the website and we'll run through a list at the mid-year meeting. Even a couple of hours each week can really help the velodrome!

ATAC Friday Night Race at BVC

The ATAC Friday Night Race series is in full swing at the Burnaby Velodrome and after three weeks of competition the leaders of each category already have a firm hold on the top placings.

Kirk O Bee isn't holding anything back and is leading the A group of racers with 42 points. His closest rival in second, Kenny Williams, currently holds 15 points and following close on his heels is Matt Chater with 13 points.

In the B Group the spread between first and second isn't so wide, as Mike Sidic currently leads with 39 points and Jacob Schwingboth is onlybehind by a slim margin with 35 points. Meantime, Nick Berry has worked his way up onto a podium spot with 16 points for third place.

As for the C's, lets just say that first year track racer Scott Vigliotti isn't letting his inexperience slow him down and sits in first place with 47 points. It's still early in the series, so Scott will have to look out for Brandon Edwards in second with 29 points and Savy Spada in third with 22 points.

Look for individual race results coming very soon at www.burnabyvelodrome.ca/fridaynightracing.html

With seven weeks of racing left in the ATAC Friday Night Race series, the competition is only going to get more heated. If you haven't made it out yet for this awesome winter series, come down to either give it shot or just enjoy the exciting racing!
