Just thought you would like an update on a few Canadians racing in the US.

Peter Mazur had an incredible weekend. On Saturday at the MRC Sterling Classic in Sterling, MA he was in the break of about 10 riders (Frank McCormack, Tim Johnson, Robbie Dapice, Jon Hamblen...) as it ascended the finishing climb. Peter jumped first and the only one who could respond was Saturn pro Frank McCormack, who beat Mazur by a wheel. The rest of the group was about 5 seconds behind. Unfortunately both Mazur and McCormack were disqualified for crossing the center yellow line in the last 50 meters of their sprint. In a show of sportsmanship, Jon Hamblen, who came across the line third, argued on behalf of both riders and ended up offering some of his prize money to Mazur.

Sunday was a much better day for Mazur. At the midpoint of the 160 km NY Spring Festival Road Race, Mazur found himself in a break of 10 riders that included fellow Canadians Mark Walters (Navigators) and Antoine Varghese (Kissena) along with Jon Hamblen (Navigators), Kevin Monaghan (Breakaway), Bill Innes (Kissena), Elliot Hubbard (Navigators).

With one 23km lap to go, Walters and Mazur came through the start/finish with almost an 2 minute lead over the eight chasers. During the final climb Walters attacked a couple of times, but Mazur responded and then countered the last attack, but was caught. As the two riders approached the downhill finish, Mazur led it out and won by a little over a bike length.
