Kelso Fat Tire Festival, May 23

Racers at Kelso experienced some of the best trail conditions ever seen in the 14 year history of MTB racing at this venue. The course was dry and extremely hard packed which led to some very fast lap times. With conditions so good the packs stayed much closer together than usual, which made for some very exciting racing, especially for the Sport/Beginner competition for the $250 prize for the fastest lap time of the day. In the Senior Sport Men a pack of 6 hammered through the first lap going for the cash. Richard Ter-Vrugt put on the power to take the cash. He hung on to win the race too!

Thanks to all of the racers and spectators who came out today. Special thank you's to the women racers for their great comments about the women's only race, and to the Clydesdale racers (men and women) for their enthusiasm about having their own category. Full race results and a bunch of race photos can be found at www.wowmtb.com

Many thanks to the event sponsors: Sporting Life, Kelsey's (Milton), CFNY 102.1, OGC/Gary Fisher, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, SRAM, and Gatorade. We'd also like to take the time to thank the whole St.John Ambulance brigade, all of the parents who helped during the kid's race, and last but not least to all of our friends for volunteering. You helped make it a really enjoyable race!
