The Experience Cycling Club is proud to host the Island Cup XC Race #4 at Cobble Hill Mountain on May 25th. We hope everyone will be able to come out and try our new race course at our new venue.

The Experience Cycling Club (ECC) is a Grass Roots Mountain Bike Association (GRMBA) club. All participants must be registered with a GRMBA affiliated club and sign a participation waiver for the race; you may join our club on race day.

Registration opens at 10:00am.
Start times will begin at 12:00 noon.
Categories include Expert, Intermediate and Beginners for both men and women.

Cost is $20 for Exp & Int. Beginners race for free, however they must be (or become) GRMBA members.

Directions: From Victoria - head North on TCH. Turn left at Hutchison Rd. Parking is off of Cobble Hill Rd which is at the end of Hutchison Rd (they intersects) beside the "train station".

From Naniamo - head South on TCH. Turn right at Cobble Hill Rd. Parking is beside "train station" on Cobble Hill Rd (where it intersects with Hutchinson Rd).

Our 6.5 Km loop (for Int & Exp) has a short-cut eliminating the top portion of the mountain for the beginners making this race the most novice friendly we have ever organized! We picked classic singletrack and a lot of it (about 80%), threw in a view from the top, and mixed in a heavy dose of swoopy descents; this course is a gem!

Prizes and a BBQ will round out the day. See you there!!

LaRoccaXC & Ironwood News
Dominique Larocque, Director, LaRoccaXC Mountain Bike School

The season has kickstarted for LaRoccaXC Mountain Bike School. With many new programs for riders of all abilities and a new IMBA Affiliated Family Club, we are ready to rock indeed.

LaRoccaXC is a proud sponsor of Ironwood Racing, a new OCA affiliated club, coached by Norm Cowan and ex two time National team member, Dominique Larocque. LaRoccaXC and Ironwood Racing is fully committed not only to excellence on the bike but also excellence off the bike as strong advocates to sustainable trail developments, under the guidance of IMBA Canada.

Norm Cowan is the official IMBA Trail Manager on the Valley side at Camp Fortune. Larocque, along with Ironwood racers, all commit their summers working at the Rock Paper Scissors development camp for children age 8 to 12 on Larocque's private land in Val-des-Monts, Québec, 35 minutes from Ottawa. We hope that these little ironwood trees will develop in strong cadet racers. Lot's of action at LaRoccaXC and Ironwood Racing. Ryan Atkins, Ironwood racer, is on Team Ontario development team.
