Camp Fortune International (E2)

Our roving reporter Kevin Willey has just telephoned in results for today's cross country race at Camp Fortune (just outside Ottawa-Hull). The race is held at the location of the Mountain Bike Nationals, so many riders were there to check out the course (as well as grab valuable UCI points).

The mens and womens races ran basically the same way: three riders off the front of the field early, with one dominating the latter stages of the race. The men raced 5 laps of the 6.8 kilometre circuit, the women 4. Kevin said that the course was slippery, and particularly muddy at the top of the climb (since there was no drainage).

In the mens race it was Mathieu Toulouse (Team Ford Devinci), followed by Eric Tourville (Oryx) and Julian Hine. Marin rider Trish Sinclair took the women's race, ahead of Canada Cup leader Marie-Helene Premont (Oryx) and Linda Robichaud.

Tomorrow is the downhill.
