Wedgewood Cycling Team: four years and counting........

The Wedgewood Cycling Team is preparing for the next two seasons with a continued determination to raise the bar with the events it organizes and supports for the BC Cancer Foundation (BCCF).

Philip Meyer, General Manager of the Wedgewood Hotel & Spa in Vancouver is very pleased with his organisation's association with the team. "It has been a very busy and rewarding few years," he explained. "The team has a solid membership base of committed people willing to donate their time and effort to support our events and ultimately the BC Cancer Foundation's vision of a World Free From Cancer."

Here is a brief snapshot of a few of the accomplishments we have made on behalf of our sponsors for the BC Cancer Foundation (BCCF).

• One of the top fundraising teams at the 2007 Tour of Courage with Lance Armstrong which raised $1.4 million for Leukemia Research at the BCCF.
• Presenting team behind the Westside Cycling Classic, the BC Provincial Championship race for 2007 and 2008 and the Westside Cycling Classic Community ride in 2008 featuring Trevor Linden, Axel Merckx, Alex Stieda, Derek Porter and Ross Rebagilati.
• The top fundraising team for the 2008 Westside Cycling Classic Community Ride; Wedgewood Cycling Team members raised over $25'000 for the BCCF.
• Team mate Al Kozlowski headed a group from Occupational Health and Safety Agency for Healthcare in BC to ride the Hoodoo 500 across Utah and raised over $35'000 for the BC Cancer Foundation.
• Presenting team of the widely recognized Tour De Gastown for 2007 and 2008 watched by 35'000 spectators each year.
• Cycling BC Club of the Year, 2006.
• Presented two learn to race cyclo cross clinics over the past two seasons; one hosted by professional racer and Danish National champion Joachim Parbo.
• Acclaimed new cyclocross race venue in New Brighton Park which raised over $1'000 for the BCCF in 2008.
• Over 1,500 hours of volunteer effort by team members in support of community cycling events and the BCCF.
• Production and sale of cycling apparel with 100% of proceeds going to benefit the BCCF.
