Bromont Wins UCI World Cup Award

The UCI announced results of voting for the best Mountain Bike World Cup events of 2008 in each discipline, and Bromont, Quebec won the award for the best 4-Cross event. Mont-Ste-Anne took second and third in the Downhill and Cross-country categories. Voting is conducted among the riders, teams, journalists, UCI staff and sponsors to determine the winners.

For 4-Cross, Bromont beat out Fort William (Scotland) and Maribor (Slovenia). The Bromont event was particularly noted for its unique track and the commitment of the organizing committee.

In the Cross-country, it was Offenburg (Germany), followed by perennial favourites Houffalize (Belgium) and Canada's Mont-Ste-Anne.

Fort William, Scotland, to no one's surprise easily won the Downhill title, reflecting popularity of 'Fort Bill' among the riders, press and huge crowds of fans that come out every year. Mont-Ste-Anne finished second and Maribor third.

Ornans (France) took the Marathon title ahead of Manavgat (Turkey). 2008 will be the last year that the Marathon discipline is on the World Cup calendar.
