Wohlberg Takes Second Stage at Beauce

Eric Wohlberg showed that he is the best at Beauce when it comes to the race against the clock. In this morning's 14.2 kilometre time trial the Degree Radio Energie-Shaklee rider was 9 seconds ahead of Jan Hruska (Wustenrot-ZVVZ) and 27 seconds in front of race leader Levi Leipheimer of Saturn. The conditions were ideal: warm, sunny and no wind to speak of. Other strong Canadian results include Brian Walton (Saturn) in 5th and Peter Wedge (Dehree Radio Energie-Shaklee) 10th.

Leipheimer will hold onto his yellow jersey, but there is a considerable amount of shuffling behind him. Hruska moves into second, with team mate Jaroslav Bilek dropping well back (he finished 15th in the time trial, 1:16 back of Wohlberg). Official generanl classification standings aren't available yet, but it appears that Mercury's Scott Moninger will jump into third place, with a strong 4th in the time trial.
