Over the last three days, 18 cyclists were put through their paces at the Burnaby Velodrome in British Columbia, at the second CCA Performance Development Camp looking ahead to 2012 and 2016. A strong turnout made for a dynamic training environment that produced training benefits for current and future Olympic riders.

The goal of these camps is to provide a pathway from potential to podium, and to provide support and motivation for aspiring athletes aiming at Olympic and World success. The riders completed a variety of skill sessions and training efforts. It's great to see things taking shape so early in the Olympic cycle.

Monique Sullivan - "For me the best part of the camp was having a big group of athletes of all different abilities training together with the same program. I do a lot of my training alone, and it makes a hard workout fun knowing you have to stick to a wheel, or trying to keep people behind you. I would like to thank the CCA and Richard for putting this together; I hope there are more to come."

Zach Bell at his first camp back since the Games: "I feel this has been the most successful CCA project I have attended, in terms of meeting the needs of all athletes involved. At the same time, athletes are being given multiple chances to demonstrate their abilities. I believe this will be great for riders of all levels. Younger riders can push themselves alongside more experienced riders, while the more experienced riders like myself are forced to raise our levels as well, in order to stay competitive. It is the start of a truly beneficial training environment."
