Rollin Preps for ProTour in Philly with Brian Walton

Today, Quebec's Dominique Rollin formally began his preparation for his 2009 ProTour debut with the Cervelo TestTeam at Cadence Cycling & Multisport Center in Manayunk, Pennsylvania. Rollin has worked with fellow Canadian, and former Olympic silver medalist, Brian Walton for a number of years.

"From a physiological standpoint, Dominique is incredibly talented, a once-in-a-generation special athlete," said Walton. "From a tactical standpoint, D-Roll has the mental mindset of a winner. His grasp of peloton dynamics and the chess game-like strategies that produce winning teams are extraordinary. I look forward to watching him progress next season and complement the leaders on the Cervelo TestTeam during their competition at the biggest and most important road races throughout Europe."

"This is a dream come true for me," said Rollin, the six-time Canadian National Champion who completed a breakout year in 2008 riding for Toyota-United. "From riding and training on the streets of Philadelphia to the roadways and mountains of Europe with the Tour de France Champion riding beside me as my teammate is unbelievable, incredible!"

In addition to road training under Walton's tutelage, Rollin works with his Cadence coach at the Manayunk training center on physiological testing services, such as lactate threshold and MaxVO2, and classes to fine tune his technique and increase his efficiency, the same methods given to novice and advanced cyclists who attend training sessions at Cadence.

Dominique attended last night's Flyers vs Islanders hockey game at the Wachovia Center. He was asked if he is now a Flyers fan because of his relationship with Philadelphia. "Not at all. I have the Habs tattooed on my heart," he joked. On his new challenge: "I have to bring myself up to a higher level. Everything from now on will be faster and longer. It's a challenge, but I'm training hard with Coach Walton at Cadence Cycling and Multisport Centers and I'm learning to deal with it."
