Brandon Edwards, President, Burnaby Velodrome Club

Due to the combination of heavy snowfall & melting and a power outage at the velodrome shutting down the air pumps the roof on the track has collapsed and will force the closure of the track for the next several days. The open hours on Monday & Tuesday are now cancelled. It is yet to be determined if the Women's/ Performance will proceed as the full extent of the damage has yet to be determined.

Update
Today, Jeremy and myself went to the track and inspected the building. The roof has collapsed completely and has been punctured in multiple spots. At this point it appears that the track riding surface is okay but it hard to be 100% certain until the roof can be re-inflated. The railing of the track has been damaged in four places. All bikes at the track are okay and undamaged. I ask that members to please not go on site to retrieve any possessions as it safety concern in that there are tripping hazards everywhere and virtually no light.

Should anyone be interested/willing to help with clean up, please contact me and I will put you in touch with those organizing the effort.

The track will be closed for the next couple of weeks. Please disregard any scheduled hours until otherwise stated.
