La Ruta Delays Expansion Until 2010

The organization of La Ruta de los Conquistadores have decided to maintain the four day race format for this year's event. The course will see no major changes for the coming 17th edition of the race, to be held November 11-14.

A fifth day was to be added to the race this year, as well as a new course development. However, after a first exploration, the organization determined that more coordination and resources would be necessary for such an undertaking.

"We have analyzed the current situation and our options, so we decided to stay on the same configuration for one more year", said Race Director Diego Viquez. "This year will represent the opportunity of making the proper arrangements, the best race designing and to have the necessary time for the staff and potential participants to prepare themselves for the big changes that will be introduced for next year's La Ruta".

"We want to do it right and the current situation would not allow us to make it that way. We feel it is better to postpone these major variations for the 2010 event and look forward to have more time to achieve the desired results. Nevertheless, we still promise a great adventure and the coolest experience for this year's entrants", added Diego Viquez.

Despite this, other improvements announced one month ago will indeed be featured for the coming edition of La Ruta, next November.

"We will improve the lodging and the services by using better hotels at the Pacific and San José. In addition, the mechanic care is provided for all the bikes at no additional cost. Catering at the hotels and finish venues, as well as the support at the aid station, that has been traditionally two of our highest rated services, will be even better this time", explained PR Director Luis Rueda.

Another highlight of the event is the registration fee of $1299 USD (+ 15% taxes), which is arguably one of the lowest fees of all the most recognized multistage races around the world.

"This is something that really matters nowadays. To have the possibility of being part of the most demanding race on the planet, with some of the best services offered among the world's epic events and the most amazing sceneries on earth at such reasonable cost is definitely a plus that all our conquistadors also receive. The smiles, the handshaking and the hugs are also a bonus!", further commented Rueda.

The website of La Ruta de los Conquistadores (www.adventurerace.com) is about to be re-launched shortly, including a new look and more details about the course and the registration packages. Online registration is already enabled.
