2009 Team Planet Energy Launch

On Thursday, in downtown Toronto at Wayne Gretzky's sports bar, Canadian cycling icon Steve Bauer introduced his expanded pro cycling team for 2009 - Team Planet Energy presented by Catalyst Capital Group. The 13 rider all-Canadian squad consists of both newcomers to the elite level and veterans, and is a stepping stone in Bauer's ambition to take a Canadian-based team to the highest levels of the sport, including, possibly, the Tour de France. Bauer and his partner Josee Larocque have added to their sponsor list, with companies such as RIM (Blackberry), Saputo, Iberville and Nucap Medical signing on.

As well as returning riders such as Francois Parisien, Ryan Roth and Buck Miller, Bauer has brought on board pros such as Andrew Randell, Martin Gilbert and Keven Lacombe. The team will start their season next week with the Tour of Cuba, followed by Vuelta Mexico Telmex in Mexico. However, the primary goal is to build towards good showings in June and July at such races as Philly, Tour de Beauce and the national championships.

The entire team consists of:

Mark Batty (Ontario)
Eric Boily (Quebec)
Joel Dion-Poitras (Quebec)
Martin Gilbert (Quebec)
Andrew Hunt (Ontario)
Keven Lacombe (Quebec)
Bruno Langlois (Quebec)
Kevin (Buck) Miller (Ontario)
Francois Parisien (Quebec)
Keir Plaice (Ontario)
Ryan Roth (Ontario)
Charly Vives (Quebec)
Maxime Vives (Quebec)

Below, we have video interviews with Andrell Randell, Martin Gilbert, Keven Lacombe and Steve Bauer.
