Quebec Result (thanks to J.L.) The young wolves of Quebec cycling took advantage of the fact that Canadian Champion, Czeslaw Lukaszewicz, and a few other of the best cyclists were away to show themselves in the first stage of the Tour Cycliste de Portneuf yesterday. Andrew Randell, Espoirs Laval, celebrated the return of this event by winning the 60 km criterium (50 laps) presented on the streets of St-Raymond. This win also gives him the lead in the Quebec Cup GC by 7 points. 60 km CRITERIUM: 1. Andrew Randell, in 1h 28m. 43 secs; 2. Eric Lyman, at 13s; 3. Etienne Tremblay, s.t.; 4. Hugo Ledoux, at 14s; 5. Alexandre Bernard, at 18s; 6. Jonathan Tremblay, s.t.; 7. Samuel Thibodeau, s.t.; 8. Luc Provencher, s.t.; 9. Frederic Vachon, s.t.; 10. Rene Fortin, s.t. The 110 km road race is held today (Sunday), starting in St-Basile and ending in St-Raymond. New Brunswick Century The Fredericton Freewheelers' Century ride has been set for Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997. It is set for an 8-9 am start with 3 optional routes,50-100km or 100 miles depending on rider ability.The 60 km route if from F'ton to the Burton Bridge and back,the 100 km route is from Fredericton to the upper Gagetown ferry and back, and the 100 mile route includes the previos route plus a loop up to Burtt's corner$10 entry fee plus a sag wagon.
